8 Oct 2014 - Wednesday - Explored downtown Christchurch city central, earthquake-damaged old Cathedral, new Cardboard Cathedral (beautiful!). City central is much damaged 4 years after quake, and buildings stand too damaged to occupy. Lots and lots of children about at an Antarctic exhibit where they could do activities. People were friendly. Some groups of teens seemed to be anti-adult - rebellious stage. Explored the mall - fairly small, but nice grocery store and fun window shopping. Bought groceries.
So I think this is the day Lauren decided to punch the NAV button on the radio, etc console on the center dash. Another GPS! WOW! So, we're traveling with two GPS devices. Seems to be helpful, though. The little Navman I hold has voice, while the dash NAV has a great map display Lauren can see. Whenever we pass a large truck going in the opposite direction, however, the dash NAV goes berserk.
