7 Oct 2014 - Tuesday - Arrived Christchurch before noon. Picked up our Hertz car - Red Ford Falcon XR6 muscle car, big tires (18-inch, instead of 15 or 16-inch), sleek. I asked for GPS just to make sure we had one (had added it to our reservation, by phone, before we left), so Hertz woman grabbed one from the drawer and gave it to me. We also remembered to ask for a Hertz map. These are usually very helpful.
Found 122 Papanui Merivale Manor on GPS and on the Hertz city map, and drove there and checked in. Very small little place. Really a B&B. Under renovation. Certainly adequate with kitchen facilities, two very small twin ( "singles" I think they call them) beds. Nice handicapped access shower. They furnished only one towel each, one washcloth each, one hand towel (not each, just one), and one bathmat. but it was OK.
Lauren found the mall and McDonalds, both within walking distance. We had McDonalds for supper. Lauren got milk and bananas from store.
